Wei Yanze smiled helplessly, his eyes full of happiness. “Have you chosen a name for the baby?”
Shuai Chang had started searching through the dictionary half a month ago, eager to name the child in Wei Yanze’s belly.
Shuai Chang said with distress, “What should we do? I don’t think any name would be worthy of our child.”
“Come on,” Wei Yanze pushed his face away. “You weren’t this troubled when you named Cheng Yun.”
Hearing this, Cheng Yun looked over, his tea-colored eyes filled with accusation: “Does Dad like my brother more? Why was it so easy to name me?” Tears began to well up in his eyes.
“Of course not!” Shuai Chang quickly picked up Zhou Cheng Yun. “Dad hasn’t even met the baby yet and doesn’t know if he will be naughty or as good as you. How could I like him more?”
Shuai Chang kissed away the tears in Zhou Cheng Yun’s eyes. “I thought of your name from the moment Daddy was pregnant. After I knew you were a twin, I hoped you’d be as soft and cute as a cloud, so that’s why I named you that.”
Zhou Cheng Yun smiled through his tears, “Cheng Yun is a cloud, and the baby is a star.”
“Cheng Xing, is that the name you gave to your brother?”
Zhou Cheng Yun nodded. “Cheng Yun loves his brother, and Dad loves me.”
Shuai Chang didn’t expect the child to have such a strong sense of wanting attention. He said seriously, “Then Cheng Yun has to be very nice to his brother, just like Dad is to you; you can help give him baths, feed him, play with him, and help him with homework. Can you do all that?”
Zhou Cheng Yun nodded happily. “I can do it.”
Zhou Cheng Yun asked Shuai Chang to let him down, then leaned down next to Wei Yanze’s belly, giving it pecks repeatedly. “Brother, you’ll be called Cheng Xing from now on.”
“Cheng Yun has become a brother complex; luckily, I still have you who loves me.” Shuai Chang sought comfort from Wei Yanze.
Wei Yanze’s fingers ran through Shuai Chang’s hair. “So you’re really calling him Cheng Xing?”
“The baby is Cheng Yun’s brother; what can I do?” Shuai Chang said plaintively.
Wei Yanze didn’t believe it. “Come on, you’re just tired of the kids and want them to play by themselves.”
Shuai Chang didn’t expect to be seen through that easily. “Honey, do you have telepathy?” He whispered in Wei Yanze’s ear, “Honestly, I want to be with you more than the kids.” That was his ultimate goal.
Wei Yanze’s face turned shy. Shuai Chang had been acting this way ever since he fell; he was treating himself like a treasure and often liked to flirt. Yet, he really liked having this kind of husband. “Zhen Ting, I really hope you never go back to how you were.” He didn’t want him to be impatient, to yell at him, or to treat him like a possession that could be trampled upon.
Shuai Chang hugged him tightly. “Don’t worry, I’ll only get better and better for you.”
A few days prior to the due date, Wei Yanze was admitted to the hospital for delivery. Shuai Chang contacted his assistant, Yue Lin, to reach out to Deng Jie, hoping he could be Wei Yanze’s nurse. Deng Jie immediately agreed.
Since Wei Yanze could give birth at any moment, Shuai Chang entrusted the company to his brother Zhou Zhen Fei and stayed by Wei Yanze’s side wholeheartedly.
While Shuai Chang also had to take Zhou Cheng Yun to and from school, Deng Jie mentioned to Wei Yanze with a hint of envy, “Mr. Zhou is truly a good man. How did Mrs. Zhou and Mr. Zhou meet? I want to find a man like that for myself.”
Wei Yanze recalled the past, his expression darkening slightly as he forced a smile. “We’ve known each other since we were young, and we married when the time came.”
Deng Jie seemed not to notice. “So it was childhood sweethearts. It seems I won’t have the chance; I was always alone when I was little and didn’t know any boys. Mrs. Zhou, you’re so lucky.”
“I feel very lucky.” Thinking of how Zhou Zhen Ting had treated him well in the past month, Wei Yanze’s gloom dissipated, and a genuine smile of happiness appeared.
“What are you so happy about?” Shuai Chang entered with Zhou Cheng Yun.
Deng Jie smiled like a spring breeze. “I’m telling Mrs. Zhou that Mr. Zhou is a once-in-a-century good man.”
Shuai Chang walked up to Wei Yanze, showing no humility. “That’s right,” he said, bending down to place a kiss on Wei Yanze’s cheek. “My dear Yanze truly understands; he has the most say.”
Wei Yanze pushed away his approaching face, shyly saying, “There are others here; watch it.”
Shuai Chang then sat down beside Wei Yanze properly.
The first thing Zhou Cheng Yun did upon entering was greet his brother, “Cheng Xing, today the teacher praised me, and I got a small red flower. Am I especially awesome?” Zhou Cheng Yun’s confidence had been increasing these days, and he sometimes sounded a bit self-important.
Suddenly, Wei Yanze frowned, his face showing pain. He tightly gripped Shuai Chang’s hand. “Zhen Ting, I think I’m about to give birth.”
This was Shuai Chang’s first time facing such a situation; he quickly rang the nurse’s call button to explain the situation. Zhou Cheng Yun was a bit frightened, staring blankly as a group of people took Wei Yanze away.
Shuai Chang had long decided to be there for the delivery. He squatted down and instructed Zhou Cheng Yun, “Cheng Yun, wait here with Uncle Deng. Dad is going to help Daddy have a little brother. Uncle Li will take you to school; when you come back tonight, your little brother will be born.”
Zhou Cheng Yun nodded. “Dad, please go be with Daddy. Cheng Yun will be good.”
“Good child.” Shuai Chang kissed Zhou Cheng Yun on the forehead, then turned to call Uncle Li, as well as Zhou’s mother to update her on the hospital situation.
Zhou’s mother immediately expressed her intention to come to the hospital to see her grandson.
Shuai Chang hung up the call, changed into a protective gown, and entered the delivery room. Wei Yanze lay on the bed, his face pale, forehead covered in cold sweat, and occasional cries of pain escaping his lips.
Wei Yanze was gripping the bedsheet tightly, his fingers turning white and devoid of color.
“Yanze, I’m here; I’ll always be by your side.”
Wei Yanze smiled faintly. “I know.”
After a full eight hours of labor, at 9:15 PM, Wei Yanze finally gave birth to the child.
The doctor cleaned off the blood on the newborn and held him up for Wei Yanze to see. “Mrs. Zhou, it’s a son weighing six pounds and four ounces.”
The newborn’s face and body were wrinkled and red, not looking particularly attractive. Wei Yanze, exhausted, said, “Cheng Xing is so cute.”
